Jonathan Hunter: Nyx - Tales of Aeden

Tagchen meine Lieben!

Da Jonathan Hunter mich mit seinen Geschichten so begeistern konnte, konnte ich es natürlich nicht abwarten seine neuste Short Story "Nyx" zu lesen. Und als sie endlich da war, hab ich sie an einem Stück durchgelesen! Jonathan ist so talentiert und ich war unglaublich gespannt auf diese Story als ich das wunderbare Cover dafür gesehen habe. Wie dem auch sei, später dazu mehr! Und es wird wie die letzten Male auch eine englische Rezension dazu geben.

Worum gehts?

Zwei Söldner bekommen einen Auftrag und planen daraufhin einen Einbruch in die Burg des mächtigsten und verlockendsten Nekromanten in Liralind.

Meine Meinung

Von Jonathan Hunters Geschichten war ich bis jetzt immer begeistert. Auch diese Short Story, "Nyx", konnte mich wieder absolut begeistern. Ich bin zu 100% überzeugt, dass es bisher die beste seiner Short Storys ist.

Die Geschichte beginnt eigentlich ziemlich harmlos mit den zwei Brüdern, die Söldner sind und einen Auftrag von einer Magierin bekommen. Sie sollen ein Buch stehlen, welches sich in der Burg von Nyx befindet. Nyx ist bekannt als die absolut mächtigste Nekromantin. In der Geschichte folgen wir den Brüdern auf ihrem Weg zur Burg, wo sie versuchen das Buch zu bekommen und ihren Auftrag zu erfüllen. Natürlich macht es ihnen Nyx nicht gerade leicht. Denn sie verdreht JEDEM den Kopf und Verstand. Sie ist verlockend und macht ihre Gegner geradezu verrückt nach ihr und keiner konnte ihr bisher wiederstehen. Dementsprechend wollte ich natürlich, dass es vielleicht den zwei Brüdern gelingen würde. Aber Jonathan wäre nicht Jonathan, wenn es so einfach wäre.

Wie dem auch sei. Je weiter man in der Geschichte kommt, desto mehr erfährt man auch über die zwei Brüder. Einer von ihnen, der Hauptcharakter aus dessen Sicht die Geschichte erzählt wird, interessiert sich eigentlich nur für Männer. Zuerst dachte ich: Hm, okay, ganz normal, wieso auch nicht? Als ich jedoch den Grund dazu erfahren habe, war ich wirklich geschockt. Auch, wenn die zwei Brüder also in dieser Geschichte als Helden angesehen werden können, sie sind es definitiv nicht. Sie haben ziemlich verdorbene Seiten und nicht unbedingt viel Moral. Ausserdem ist der eine Bruder, Akira, ein ziemliches Arschloch, ich habe ihn eigentlich mehr gehasst als etwas anderes.

Dafür mochte ich Nyx, die klare Antagonistin, wirklich sehr. Sie ist eigentlich der klassische Antagonist: sie ist kaltblütig, verrückt und einfach unerbittlich. Sie hat kein Erbarmen mit ihren Feinden und macht alle Männer zu ihren willigen Sklaven. Sie zwingt ihnen ihren Willen auf, so, dass sie sich nicht wehren können. Schon ein bisschen sadistisch die Kleine. Und sie spielt unglaublich gerne Spielchen.

Die ganze Geschichte hindurch spielen die zwei Brüder die Spielchen von Nyx mit. Sie tun alles, um dieses Buch zu kriegen und es scheint ihnen am Ende tatsächlich zu gelingen. Aber wie gesagt, Jonathan wäre nicht Jonathan, wenn nicht etwas Unerwartetes passieren würde. *SPOILER* Denn leider hat diese Story kein Happy End. *SPOILER ENDE* Auch, wenn die Brüder eigentlich nicht unbedingt als Helden geeignet sind und man sie aufgrund ihrer negativen Charakterzügen eigentlich hassen sollte, wollte ich sie trotzdem als Helden sehen und natürlich wollte ich, dass sie am Ende Nyx besiegen. Trotz allem fand ich das Ende gut gelungen; wäre ja auch schade um Nyx gewesen.

Diese Geschichte spielt nach den anderen zwei Short Storys und zeigt uns einen anderen Teil der Fantasy-Welt, die Jonathan erschaffen hat. Auch dieses Mal hat Jonathan wieder einmal bewiesen was für ein talentierter Autor er ist. Er beschreibt die Dinge in solch einer Einfachheit und dennoch fesselt einen seine Art zu schreiben. Er hat eine unglaublich spannende Art die Dinge zu erzählen und bringt einen dazu immer wissen zu wollen wie es weitergeht.

Für alle, die jemals eine Geschichte von Jonathan Hunter lesen wollen: Lest unbedingt diese, denn sie ist ganz klar die Beste von allen!

Und Nyx ist definitiv zu einer meiner liebsten Antagonisten geworden! *grinst*

Hello my loves!

I loved Jonathan's Storys, so it wasn't a surprise that I wanted to read his newest short story "Nyx"! When the story was out, I've read it in 1 hour because it was just freaking good! Jonathan is really talented and when I saw the beautiful cover I was super curious about this story. (And Jonathan promised me that it was his best story so far!) So now there is again a german and english version of my review about this story.

Spotted: Icecold, sassy and beautiful - A perfect description of the new antagonist of "Nyx - Tales of Aeden"!

What is it about?
As plans millennia in the making unravel, two sellswords plan a heist into the castle of the most powerful and alluring Necromancer in Liralind.

My opinion

I was thrilled by Jonathan's storys until now. And this story "Nyx" didn't disappoint me. I just loved it! And I'm 100% sure it was his best story so far.

The story begins harmless with two brothers who are swordsells and who are getting a task from a mage. They have to steal a book in the castle of Nyx. Nyx is known as one of the most powerful Necromancer. In the story we are following the brothers who are trying to steal the book and trying to accomplish their task. But clearly Nyx isn't going to make it easy for them. Nyx is playing with everyone's mind. She is tempting and turning all men crazy and no one could ever win against her. Clearly I wanted the brothers to win against her. But Jonathan wouldn't be Jonathan if he would it make so easy for them to win.

In the story we are following the two brothers on their mission. One of the brothers who is telling the story is not interested in women but in men. First I was like: okay, cool, why not? But when I realised why it was like that I was pretty shocked (thank you Jonathan). The brothers are seen as heroes of this story - but for me they aren't really heroes. Mostly because they're immoral and especially because of their foul traits. And I hated the other brother named Akira, he's such an ass****.

But in return I really loved Nyx who is clearly the antagonist of this story. She's the classy antagonist: she's coldblooded, crazy and mean. She's relentless, especially with her enemies. She's making slave of all the mens who are coming to her castle. She's forcing them to do what she wants and every victim has no chance against her. She's a nasty bitch, to be clear. She's saddistic and loves to play games. I really liked her.

Through the whole story the two brothers are playing the little game of Nyx. They do everything to get the book and in the end it really looks like they're going to win. But what can I say? Men are just fools. And like i said at the beginning: Jonathan wouldn't be Jonathan if nothing unexpected would happen in the end. *SPOILER* Unfortunately the story didn't have a happy ending. *END OF SPOILER* But even though the two brothers weren't really heroes I wanted to see them as heroes of the story and I wanted them to win against Nyx. Nevertheless I was still happy with the ending; it would have been a pitty if Nyx would have been dead at the end.

The story is set after the other two short storys "The First Gate" and "The Circus" and it shows us another part of the great fantasy world that Jonathan created. Jonathan proved again what a great author, what a great writer he is. His way of writing is so easely but it's still super captivating. He has a great way to write things pretty suspensfull and he manages to make you want to know how the story is going on.

For the ones who want to read one of Jonathan's storys: You should read this one, cause "Nyx" is probably the best short story of them all!

And Nyx has definitly become one of my favourite antagonist!
